Voucher code

We tried the McDonald’s code which claims to automatically reduce your entire meal to £1.99

Shoppers have discovered a code that instantly discounts a McDonald’s meal to £1.99. A Big Mac with regular fries would usually cost £5.28, but using the code people say their meals are reduced to £1.99.

A video showing how to do it has been uploaded to the LatestDeals Tik Tok, where it has been viewed over 20,000 times. The video claims to show a shopper ordering from one of the digital menus you find at most McDonald’s branches these days.

At the top left of the home screen, there’s a button that says vouchers. Tap it, and it will take you to a screen where you need to enter the code.

Dial the numbers 817 336 06 and see what happens. Once you’ve done this, the video claims you’ll be able to select any meal you want for £1.99.

The meals included are: Big Mac and fries or salad, McChicken Sandwich and fries or salad, or the Vegetable Deluxe and fries or salad. LatestDeals.co.uk tested it and it seemed to work.

But many comments under the Tik Tok video suggested otherwise. With that in mind, we went to try it out for ourselves, and it didn’t quite work out the same way. When journalist Nicole Wootton-Cane tried it at McDonald’s in Manchester Oxford Road, it wasn’t such a good result.

After Nicole typed in the code, she received an error message saying “Unrecognized code”. Boo. Do not hesitate to give it in advance in your nearest McDonald’s agency, but be careful, you risk not succeeding.

Earlier this week, McDonald’s announced that one of its most controversial burgers would return to the menu. The McSpicy returns – but to make room for it, some things are removed.

The McSpicy, which was last on the McDonald’s menu in July 2021, costs £4.29 for a simple burger or £5.79 for an average meal. Keep in mind that prices vary across the country.

McDonald’s is also bringing back the Grand Big Mac as part of its latest menu upgrade. The Grand Big Mac comes with the same ingredients as a regular Big Mac, but in a larger size.

It costs £4.79 just for a Grand Big Mac burger, or £6.29 for an average meal. If you opt for the Grand Big Mac with Bacon, you’ll only pay £5.29 for the burger or £6.69 for an average meal.

Diners at McDonald’s will also be able to feast on Cheesy Garlic Bites for £1.99 from next week. As for dessert, the fast food chain is bringing back its McFlurries Flake Raspberry and Flake Chocolate, prices at 99p for a mini size of £1.39 for a regular.

But the new additions to the menu mean Maccies customers will have to say goodbye to some fan favorites. The Big Tasty will only be available until this Tuesday (April 26) along with its other flavors The Big Tasty with Bacon and The Big Tasty BBQ.

McDonald’s will also be getting rid of the Homestyle Crispy Chicken burger, Chilli Cheese Bites and Creme Egg McFlurry and Cadbury Caramel McFlurry.
